There are three software modules available containing the name VAST.  Each is focused on improving measurement throughput (productivity).

VAST Navigator has been included on models like PRISMO & CENTERMAX for many years.  Applies only to the VAST Gold or VAST-xt Gold sensor. Improves scanning speed of holes (circles or cylinders) while maintaining accuracy - often by over 30%! When qualifying each stylus, the reference sphere is measured with both single points and also scanning.  This allows the system to understand the dynamic bending characteristics of each stylus in addition to only static.  This leads to the system compensating for stylus bending far more effectively and thus allowing higher scanning speeds.  Again, only applicable for round features.  This does not speed up scanning any other shape (flat plane, free form shape, curve).

VAST Performance involves two features: 1) Fly Scanning allows the system to drag the stylus over a void and automatically omit that erroneous data from the measurement evaluation.  Without Fly Scanning, it is required to program the stylus to drive around such a void which can take more time. 2) Fast Probe Changing speeds up the actual dropping and picking up of probe configurations from the probe rack. VAST Performance only applies to VAST Gold or VAST-xt Gold (active sensors).

VAST Probing allows the user to set a “settling threashold” resulting in faster single point measurement.  This can be applied to any VAST sensor (active or passsive) and also now an O-INSPECT camera.
