Firmware & Future Fit

It is the duty of Aftermarket Sales to check the customer's current Firmware level versus the latest CALYPSO Release Notes. This can be done by either the Service Data Viewer or iBase 360.  The iBase 360 tool has the benefit that we can look up multiple serial numbers at one time.  The SDV is one serial number at a time. The data in each tool is identical.

For machines 10 years of age or less, there should be no need to bother checking the current Firmware level.  This is as of CALYPSO 2022 (7.4) which has pretty low FW requirements for most machines ex: 20.09 for most Contura).

Firmware Installation has a P/N and in March 2023 the price is $1750.  This is to be added to a calibration quotation if we determine a FW update will be necessary for the latest CALYPSO.  If quoting ZCC, a FW update is free of charge ("FOC") so you may offer a 100% discount.  We should not be adding the Firmware Installation P/N to quotations unless we have checked and confirmed it is necessary for the latest CALYPSO. Doing so may cause problems for our Service Technicians and may result in a down machine.  The rule is, “Don't upgrade FW unless absolutely necessary”.

We may offer a Future Fit upgrade if deemed necessary to run the latest CALYPSO.  The scenario for Future Fit would be 1) the current FW does not meet the minimum & 2) the PC Section is a SR7 or less.  Although in many cases the SR7 may be sufficient, they are getting old and a good idea to replace with an SR10 via Future Fit.  The list of P/Ns can be found on the Z Drive.  We add the content to a ZEISS Care Complete quotation as we always have.  Future Fit should not be quoted standalone.
