THALES License Entitlements

TL;DR: If this issue crosses your path, you will send an email to CIC asking for a SW Applications Helpdesk Ticket to be opened. Let them know the serial numbers, the version of Calypso being requested (7.6 or older), and that the customer needs to be sent the Thales version of the license.

Full Explanation:
With the launch of CALYPSO 2024 version 7.8, the licenses customers will download from the Metrology Portal will be a new types called “Thales” (pronounces Tah – less).  All will be perfect if the customer installs 2024.

However, if a customer downloads their 7.8 (2024) license but try to run an older version, it won’t work.  For example, if a customer is running 2021, buy and SMA, choose to upgrade only to 2023, download their license (which will be 2024), it will not work, they would only be able to run 2024

This is a known issue and a solution from Germany is on the way in 1-2 months

In the meantime, when this issue appears, there is a plan between CIC, CC, Apps, & SW Licensing to manually provide an license which will work for such a customer.  This will be very time consuming for them but is our only path forward.

In case your customer asks or is experiencing issues with this, email CIC and ask for a SW Applications Helpdesk Ticket to be opened. Let them know the serial numbers, the version of Calypso being requested, and that the customer needs to be sent the Thales version of the license.
