As a matter of policy, we do not accept software exchanges, returns or module transfers.
For example, if a customer has the IGES convertor but wants STEP instead, we need to quote STEP (discounting per LTA or ZC). We cannot simply swap one for the other because we (our SSC) will need to purchase it from our HQ. So, we (our SSC) would take a loss.
The same goes for software module or SMA returns; we do not “get money back” from our HQ.
It is also not policy to move a module from one seat to another (regardless of whether SMAs are current). "Our policies only allow a Licensee to transfer the entire Software license from one machine to another (with active SMA). It does not allow the Licensee to move one option from one machine to another.
Please bring any special situations to Craig for consideration / exceptions.
FOR NEW MACHINE PURCHASES WANTING TO MOVE SOFTWARE FROM AN OBSOLETE MACHINE:
From Scott June 2024: "Yes, if the SMA is current for STEP and R+, we can transfer the license to a shinny new system.
Sounds like we need to provide a quote for at least STEP and R+ for the B&S machine.
I attached the original SO for the CALYPSO NZDI on the B&S if it helps.
After they take delivery of the new system, and if they have a valid SMA, the customer can call CIC to request moving the licenses.
Theoretically we could transfer the CALYPSO license, but new Spectrum machines include CALYPSO in the system price. There would be no cost savings to transfer the CALYPSO license.
Most other new systems also include STEP and R+. So normally no cost savings to transfer these licenses."
