AMS Process Reference: 2- and 3-Year SMA / Calibration Price-Lock Options

Purpose
Use this process when quoting customers who want to purchase 2- or 3-year SMA terms, 2- or 3-year calibration commitments, or both. The intent is to reduce repeat annual quoting/PO work, give customers better cost certainty, and simplify internal processing.
What Can Be Quoted
AMS may quote:
- SMA only — 2- or 3-year term
- Calibration only — 2- or 3-year term, CMMs only
- SMA + calibration together — with or without ZEISS Care
- ZEISS Care Complete — when SMA and calibration are purchased together and ZEISS Care benefits apply
ZEISS Care is not required to offer a 2- or 3-year term.
SMA Term Rules
Customers may purchase SMA for a 2- or 3-year term without purchasing calibration or ZEISS Care.
When quoting multi-year SMA:
- Apply the applicable loyalty discount.
- Apply the applicable multi-license discount, if eligible.
- The full SMA term invoices immediately under standard terms.
Calibration Price-Lock Rules
Calibration price lock may be offered for up to 3 years maximum.
As of June 1, 2026, calibration price lock applies to:
- CMMs only
Calibration price lock does not apply to:
- 3D Optics sensors (ie ATOS/Scanbox)
- SF&G products
- CMMs requiring special pricing or special quoting permissions
- Customers with long-term, global, or national agreements unless specifically approved
- Hardware that will not remain supported for the full quoted term
Calibration may be purchased without SMA or ZEISS Care and still receive the applicable 2- or 3-year price lock, if eligible.
Calibration invoices upon completion of each individual service.
ZEISS Care Rules
ZEISS Care applies only when the customer purchases the required SMA and calibration combination for ZEISS Care benefits.
However:
- ZEISS Care is not required for a customer to buy a 2- or 3-year SMA term.
- ZEISS Care is not required for a customer to buy a 2- or 3-year calibration price-lock term.
- If ZEISS Care is included, apply the standard ZEISS Care benefits according to current quoting rules.
Discount Rules
Loyalty Discount
Use the current loyalty discount structure for eligible SMA renewals:
- 10% on 1st SMA renewal
- 20% on 2nd SMA renewal
- 30% on 3rd SMA renewal
For multi-year SMA terms, apply the applicable loyalty discount across the quoted SMA term.
Multi-License Discount
Multi-license discount applies only when the customer has at least 3 qualifying base licenses.
- Minimum qualification: 3 base licenses
- Discount: 1% per qualifying license
- Maximum multi-license discount: 20%
Billing / Payment
Standard billing terms apply. There is no special billing rule for this program.
- SMA: full SMA term invoices immediately.
- Calibration: invoices upon completion of each individual calibration service.
Required Checks Before Quoting
Before issuing a 2- or 3-year quote, confirm:
- Is this SMA, calibration, or both?
- Is ZEISS Care being included, or are the services being sold separately?
- For calibration price lock: is the equipment a qualifying CMM?
- Is the equipment supported for the full quoted term?
- Does the customer have a long-term, global, or national agreement?
- Does the quote require special pricing or special quoting permission?
- For SMA: does the customer qualify for loyalty discount?
- For multi-license discount: does the customer have at least 3 qualifying base licenses?
If any item is unclear, do not assume. Confirm before quoting.
What Not To Do
Do not:
- Require ZEISS Care just to quote a 2- or 3-year SMA term.
- Require ZEISS Care just to quote a 2- or 3-year calibration price lock.
- Apply calibration price lock to optics sensors or SF&G products.
- Apply calibration price lock to CMMs requiring special pricing without approval.
- Apply multi-license discount unless the customer has at least 3 qualifying base licenses.
- Treat calibration and SMA billing the same; SMA invoices immediately, calibration invoices after service completion.
Customer-Facing Verbiage
We can offer 2- or 3-year options for eligible SMA renewals and CMM calibration services. This allows you to reduce repeat annual PO work and protect eligible pricing for the quoted term. SMA invoices under standard terms at the start of the term, while calibration services invoice as each service is completed.

If SMA and calibration are purchased together under ZEISS Care, applicable ZEISS Care benefits may also apply in addition to the eligible term and discount structure.
