We are able to offer our customers trial software licenses upon request; initial term of 30 days or 60 days.
Can be renewed for an additional 30 days for a maximum of 90 days.
Typically, the customer wishes to “try-before-you-buy”. One danger/reality is that the customer may not know how to use the particular software and may struggle. With an active SMA, they may call the Applications Helpdesk but this should be within reason (it would not be a “training class”).
It is at the discretion of the Aftermarket Salesperson whether to grant the trial license or not.
In many cases, it would be wise to provide the customer with a quotation to purchase the particular software at the time of the trial. This will inform the customer of the sale price and also enable them to swiftly make the purchase should they approve of the software during the trial period.
Process:
- Create an internal quotation for License P/Ns only; no SMA P/Ns, no Release P/Ns.
- Apply 100% discount to license part numbers. Best way is to put 100 in the ZPRO column in Items.
- In PO field, put 30 Days or 60 Days
- If trial software is for a Calypso option or Gear Pro, reference S/N in Software Bom part number, and match Calypso license type (PC bonded or Dongle based).
- If trial software is for a new seat (Calypso CNC, Calypso Planner), must use PC bonded license part numbers, and customer must download software from Download Center in Zeiss Portal.
- If the trial is for a PLANNER Seat: include Planner, Simulation, STEP, Curve, & Freeform.
- Be sure to include an Internal Note advising Software Licensing to whom they should email the license file to turn on the software option. Once the customer applies the license file, it will automatically time out and deactivate in 30 or 60 days, whichever temp license term you have chosen.
