Hyperlinks can be incredibly useful when communicating with your customers by email, especially in order to give concise directions. To hide long internet links and addresses behind shortened text, follow these steps in Microsoft Outlook:
1. After composing your email, highlight the word or words you wish to turn into an external link.
2. Right click the selection area and choose “Link” from the menu.

3. In the “Insert Hyperlink” pop up menu, type or copy-paste the website address in the address field, then select “ok”

4. The selected text in your email will now have converted to an external link.

Additional Notes:
- You can right click the link again to “edit hyperlink” to revise the details or the address.
- After sending the email, your recipient need only click the link to be taken to the external webpage.
- To follow the link from your email draft before sending it, hold the CRTL button and click the link with your mouse.
It is wise to use hyperlinks sparingly and understand that certain recipients may be wary about following external links in accordance to their cybersecurity compliances.
