AMS FAQ: Training Discount with SMA Renewal or New License Sale
What is this program?
AMS may offer a 25% training discount when training is sold with an eligible SMA renewal or eligible new software license sale.
The goal is to make it easier for AMS to bring up training during renewal and license conversations while giving customers a reason to commit while the quote is active.
When can AMS offer the discount?
Use this discount in two situations:
- SMA renewal with ZEISS Care
- New software license sale, such as a CALYPSO option/add-on where related training would help the customer use the license successfully
What training is eligible?
Eligible training includes:
- Eligible CALYPSO Live Online courses
- Eligible eLearnings

All INSPECT classroom trainings AT ZEISS
- Not “Private” or “Custom”
eLearnings are included in this program.
What is excluded?
Do not use this discount for:
- At ZEISS CALYPSO courses
- CALYPSO Basic Live Online
- Non-standard or custom training
If the customer requests non-standard or custom training, do not quote it through AMS. Send the request to Metrology Services.
Does the customer need ZEISS Care?
For SMA renewal offers, yes. The training discount should be offered with SMA renewal + ZEISS Care.
For new software license sales, ZEISS Care is not required. The discount may be offered when the training supports the newly purchased license or add-on.
How should the customer register?
The customer should register through the Academy website and enter their PO number in the payment field during registration.
Where does the PO go?
Send the training PO internally to the Training Billing / Training Team Mailbox using the normal internal process.
Do not include the customer on the internal billing handoff email.
How should AMS quote the training line item?
Training line items should use line-item numbers ending in 5.
Examples:
- 35
- 45
- 55
- 105
- 115
This is the preferred tracking method and has been confirmed as working. Use it whenever training is quoted under this program.
Why do line items need to end in 5?
This makes training sold through AMS easier to identify and track separately from standard SMA, license, or machine-sale lines.
What should AMS tell the customer?
Use simple wording:
As part of your eligible SMA renewal or new software license purchase, we can offer 25% off eligible training. Eligible options include select Live Online courses and eLearnings. CALYPSO Basic Live Online, At ZEISS CALYPSO courses, and custom training are excluded.
What should AMS not do?
Do not:
- Quote CALYPSO Basic Live Online with this discount
- Quote At ZEISS CALYPSO courses with this discount
- Quote custom or non-standard training
- Send custom training requests through the normal AMS quoting path
- Forget to use training line items ending in 5
- Forget to send the PO to Training Billing / Training Team Mailbox
Who reviews exceptions?
If the request does not fit the standard eligible training options, route it to Metrology Services instead of quoting it through AMS.
