Customers requesting to convert a CALYPSO CNC licenses to CALYPSO Planner;

On occasion, a customer may request to convert a CALYPSO CNC licenses to CALYPSO Planner.  The request is typically made when the customer is decommissioning a system but may also happen when they sell the machine and wish to keep the CALYPSO license.  This has created challenges to our iBase records and software policies.

Effective immediately, customers can request to convert a CALYPSO CNC license to a CALYPSO Planner license.  This policy ensures proper iBase record maintenance while allowing the customer to use their CALYPSO license offline.

• The request may only be complete during the purchase of an SMA. 
• A new offline serial number will be created and assigned to the customer's existing CNC dongle. (Remind customers not to discard the dongle!)
• A new entitlement with CALYPSO Planner will be created for the new offline serial number.
• CALYPSO CNC license will be deactivated.
• With a purchase of the SMA, any other options (STEP, Curve, etc) from the machine may also be moved to the offline serial number.
• New SMA quote should include;
  • New Offline Serial Number 600640-0000-275
  • Note the original machine serial number
  • Add CALYPSO Planner SMA
  • Add any applicable CALYPSO options SMA
  • Do not include the CALYPSO CNC SMA
  • ZEISS Care discounts would apply, if this system or another ZEISS machine is covered by ZEISS Care.
• A customer may purchase and add the Simulation license and SMA if they need these benefits.
• A customer may also purchase and add the Simulation license to this CALYPSO CNC license.
• Allows our customers to maintain the CALYPSO license in an offline mode if they decommission the machine.  
• Changing the CALYPSO CNC license to Planner will lower the cost of the SMA.

Regarding CALYPSO Simulation.  This option allows the user to simulate and visualize CALYPSO Measurement Plans.  Simulation adds value, but it is not required for CALYPSO Planner or creating Measurement Plans offline. 

If a customer already has an active SMA for the machine, they can simply use the CALYPSO CNC license and dongle in an offline mode by checking "Simulation only (Off-line)" in CALYPSO's CMM Configuration.

• Providing the service to convert a CALYPSO CNC licenses to CALYPSO Planner at the time of purchasing an SMA, allows us to be efficient with our workflows.  (There are no benefits to the customer to convert in the middle of an SMA period. )
