By using the Item Grouping and Group Attributes assignment blocks when building your quotes, you can create subtotals for items and apply discounts to those subtotals accordingly.
This can help you to communicate clearly and concisely with your customer in the “Quotation Summary” page of your quote!
Creating Groups and Subtotals
1. Start creating your quote. After entering all line items, go to the Item Grouping section.
Hint: select the ITEM column and “sort ascending” to ensure your line items appear in numerical order according to the line item number given to them in the Items assignment block.
2. In the GROUP DESCRIPTION column, type a name or short description for each of your groups. In this example, I have 5 separately named groups. Copy and paste the exact same text for each group for each line item you wish to be part of that group. Hit enter to refresh the quote.
3. Go to the Group Attributes assignment block and select “refresh.”
4. Each of your groups should show up here, along with the subtotal of all the line items assigned to each group. This box determines how the “Quote Summary” page of your quote will look like once printed.
6. Check the box in the “Suppress Itemsum” column if you do NOT wish for the price of each line item to show on your printed quote. This way only the subtotals will be visible.
You may uncheck the box if you decide you want to show the line item price for each line.
Applying Group Discounts or Absolute Discounts
In the Group Attributes assignment block, you can apply discounts by either a percentage, or a whole amount in dollars and cents.
Enter a percentage in the “Discount Percentage” column along with a description in the “Percentage Desc” column.
For absolute discount, enter the whole amount of the discount in the “ABS Discount” column along with the description in the “ABS discount desc” column.
You CANNOT apply both types of discounts to the same group.
In this example, I've added a 10% Zeiss Care discount to the first 3 groups and a $600 and $710 example discount to the last 2 groups.
When you print your quote, the Summary Section will look like this with all discounts applied:
