What are Pro / Con of each?

Classroom (at ZEISS)  Being away from the plant location, most students can really focus on the training content effectively.  Also, being at a ZEISS facility exposes the customer to other products or services ZEISS might have to offer them. Potential downside is travel cost and a full week away from the plant location.  Lastly, being trained on a similar machine type is nice but still not the customer’s actual machine.  When they get home, sometimes they can feel lost on their machine.

On-Site (at Customer)  Customer does not need to travel which can be a positive for them personally and also considering cost.  Nice to be trained on customer’s actual machine for complete familiarity. One downside is the price is quite high.  Primary downside is the inevitable distractions from the plant. A downside for ZEISS is that one Application Engineer is completely consumed by one customer location for the entire week (takes away our people resources).

Live On-Line  This is absolutely the most popular style since it was created early pandemic days.  The price is the same as Basic but does not require any travel. Customer can be trained on their actual CMM which is beneficial.  The hours the machine must be made available are listed in the Course Descriptions on the Metrology Portal.  This is typically 10:00-11:30 and 2:30-4:00 EST.  The effectiveness of Live On-Line has been proven to be superior to classroom or on-site in most cases!  Downside is that the customer CMM is tied up for the whole week.  They also do not have the chance to visit a ZEISS location and meet the instructors, etc… One special note: . If customer wishes, we may allow them to come to the local ZEISS QEC and use one of our machines at no additional cost!

eLearning  Accessible any time. Wide array of content.  Cost effective. Typically not as effective as formal training.  eLearning is a great complimentary offering but not a replacement for courses like CALYPSO Basic.
